Mark Hachem Gallery is delighted to present a solo exhibition by artist Diaa Azzawi, featuring a selection of his design works.
Azzawi is known for his exceptional paintings and sculptures but at this year’s edition of Beirut Design Fair, Azzawi is combining traditional pieces of furniture and freely formed abstract shapes that rely on color to create a body of work that is closer to object art than furniture.
London's Tate Gallery calls him “one of Iraq's most influential living artists”; and CNN describes him as “one of the region’s most influential artists”, Diaa Azzawi is a modern art pioneer with works in international private and public collections including the Museums of Modern Art in Baghdad, Damascus and Tunis; Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, British Museum, Tate Modern, and Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris, Gulbenkian Collection, Barcelona; and Library of Congress and the World Bank, Washington, DC and many more.
