The Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts, ALBA, was founded by Alexis Boutros in 1937. This visionary directed the school until Mr. Georges Haddad took the lead in 1979. For thirty years, Mr. Haddad developed new schools under ALBA's roof.
Since 2010, André Bekhazi is in charge of ALBA ‘s prosperous future with the creation of its new university campus.
“Since 2012, Alba is the first school in the Middle East to consider design as a discipline in its own right. Created in 1999 as a specialization in furniture design, the Design section has developed, to accompany market’s needs and now offers a license in product design.
Section’s mission is to train young designers, initiated to both artisanal and industrial manufacturing methods, as to new production methods. The spirit of synthesis that we instill in our students will allow them to cross these two complementary techniques...” certifies Mathieu Bernard, Director of the Design Section.
ALBA is pleased to present, with Beirut Design Fair, 8 lighting fixtures designed by first year Design students mentored by 2 teachers and designers, Kareen Andraos Asli and Joe Nacouzi.
